B4       Move Their Bodies, Move Their Minds
Finding ways to meet the individual needs of each student can be a challenge. Some students will come to class over-energized and in need of some calming music or mindful exercise. Some will come lacking the core strength and stability to sit at their desk long enough to get through a full lesson. And, others will arrive lethargic and in need of physical movement and more blood flow to the brain. The truth is, our bodies were designed to move and move often. The more opportunities you can create for movement, building strength and stability and creating a grounding welcoming environment in the classroom, the more enjoyable and healthy it will be for all.
In this 1.5 hour workshop you will:
  • Learn how creating Opportunities To Move (OTMs) will change the environment of your classroom and the success of your students.
  • Discuss and practice exercises that improve core strength and stability for both performance and longevity.
  • Ways you can use movement to set the tone in your classroom, gain control of the class, make learning more fun and help those students with shorter attention spans get focused and fit.
  • Improve self-esteem and self-confidence by choosing movement-based activities that build teamwork and improve overall health but, that do not involve sports or competition.
  • ‘Movement Motivators’ card decks will be available for $20 to help encourage movement in the classroom (each deck contains 40 ways to get kids moving, designed for ages 4 and up).
